#22 in the 50 Bells series, this commissioned piece is designed for garden display. Selected white pine has been meticulously shaped and joined. A cattail relief carving graced the lower arch, framing the welded steel heron. Both the heron and the steel bell have been bronze clad before application of tiffany green patina. The japanese method of wood preservation, sho sugi ban has been applied by charring, brushing, then oiling the wood, resulting in a rich organic darkness that subtly highlights the grain.
